Huntington High bands bring home awards

HUNTINGTON -- Huntington High School's concert band and jazz ensemble won several awards over the weekend in Chicago.

Both bands placed first in their categories during a music competition at Harper College. They also both won the overall awards for the best performance in the entire competition, said Melissa Ash, Huntington High School's band director.

"They did an outstanding job in their performances," Ash said. "I'm so proud of what they accomplished. They did great."

The band left for Chicago Thursday evening and were on their way home Sunday night.
